Welcome to my new site.  I decided to create this site for two reasons. 1, I found taking to the road after a break of nearly 30 years did not find me in any fit shape to do the miles I once did. And 2, I wanted to share the Dos & DON’Ts with both first timers and fools like me who have rediscovered the joy of the open road. You can read more of my error on the about page

spd1One of the best investments I have made since buying my Voyage is the addition of SPD pedals. I stayed away with other bikes because I was influenced by my experiences with toeclips & straps.

70mm stemThere seems to be a trend in the bike industry at the moment to equip all new bikes that come with drop handlebars with a headset that is well placed on a road bike (racing bike, for all the oldies out there), but ill conceived on a touring bike.

loaded1I have now put down 200 miles on my new Voyage, 100 miles of which was under half load of two rear( fully loaded) panniers, with tent and bed roll, and am pleased with the overall performance, but along with the good points of this touring bike, there are some bad too.
